Materials:

Coloured cards, coloured pencils

Procedure before class:

1.       Bring enough coloured cards and pencils depending on the interaction pattern you would like to have.
2.       Make sure the pupils have coloured pencils.
3.       Put up a big colour- coding key on the wall next to the b/b.

 

Procedure in class:

1.       The teacher introduces the target structure using one colour per each word, e.g.

red

blue

green

brown

purple

orange

yellow

2.       Then the pupils give their own examples of sentences using the same pattern ,for example:

 

Where is the bridge/ tunnel? The bridge is on the left/ right.

Follow Up:

The pupils used coloured pencils to write their own sentences.

Variations:

 

The colour-coded cards could be blank or with words typed on them depending on the skill you would like to focus on.

Tips:

You need to stick to the same colour- coding no matter what structures you introduce, e.g. verb- blue, noun- brown, etc.
