Procedure before class:

1.       The teacher prepares the books in advance.

Procedure in class:

1.       The teacher gives a task to the whole class.
2.       Then she selects individual weaker pupils and asks them to read the mini books to her or to another strong pupil.
3.       There are two types of books: Book 1: picture and word; Book 2: words only usually given to more advanced pupils.

 

Follow Up:

 

The teacher has a record book with the names of the pupils and the word list. She ticks the words each pupil has mastered.

Variations:

 

The pupils can read the books anywhere they go and their friends and families can help them with the words.

Tips:

Decorate the classroom with mini books
